"Not On My Watch" to premiere in Boston next month

I am pleased to announce that my ten-minute play, “Not On My Watch,” has been selected by and will be performed at two festivals in Boston’s South End next month. The play is a love story from the near future: Boy’s gadget meets girl’s gadget. It is literally ten minutes long.

“Not On My Watch” will have its world premiere at the Fifth Annual Dragonfly Festival, presented by the Devanaughn Theatre Company. Art Hennessey directs, and the cast includes Penny Benson and Steven Richardson. Performances are at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 17-19; as well as at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 20. There are seven other plays on the bill. Tickets are $15.00 (general admission) and are available through the theater’s web site. Rhoda and I will be attending on Saturday evening.

The cast will be doing double-duty on May 20, as “Not On My Watch” will also be part of the Boston Theatre Marathon – a festival of 50 ten-minute plays performed over ten hours. (See the complete lineup of plays.) The performance schedule will not be announced for a while, but I am fairly confident that my play will go up either well before or well after the 3:00 pm show that day at the Devanaughn. Marathon passes are $40. I plan to attend as much of the Marathon as I can; Rhoda, sadly, will be out of town that day.

I hope you can attend one of the performances. The festivals are highly selective (both received over 200 applications from playwrights) and I’m sure you will enjoy yourself. If you are able to come on Saturday night to the Dragonfly or on Sunday to the Marathon, let me know and we’ll arrange to meet up after the show.

I believe that given the number of playwrights, actors, and directors involved that both shows are likely to sell out, so I would encourage you to get tickets early.

Enjoy the spring, which has finally arrived in Massachusetts!

Best wishes,

David
