ABC Amber makes an easy, free EPS converter
A client of mine is preparing a presentation that will include logos from several of their business partners. They asked these business partners to send logo files that could be inserted into a PowerPoint presentation. Many partners sent .jpg or .gif images that my client had no trouble copying and pasting in, but some partners only had .tif or .eps files, which are commonly used for printing rather than on-screen viewing. My client didn’t know what to do with the .tif and .eps files so they turned to me for help.
The .tif files weren’t that big a deal. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager, which comes with Office 2003 and above, to open the .tif files and export them as .jpg. But the .eps files were a little trickier. I didn’t have any of the Microsoft-recommended .eps applications installed. So I did a Google search for convert eps to jpg and found a nice little freeware program called ABC Amber EPS Converter. I then remembered that a few months ago I had used their Lotus 1-2-3 converter to migrate a whole bunch of old 1-2-3 files to Excel. It worked extremely well.
The folks at ABC Amber have dozens of conversion utilities. They’re not all free but they are all a good deal. Next time you’re baffled as to how to convert anything from one format to another, take a look at what ABC Amber has to offer.
