CRN.com article on MS licensing

Kevin McLaughlin of CRN has an article about the challenges small business IT consultants face with Microsoft licensing. Because I had commented on the blog posting that was the inspiration for the article, Mr. McLaughlin requested an interview with me as he was preparing it. From the voicemail he left me, I got the impression that the main thrust of his article was going to be about a perceived pissing match between Eric Ligman of Microsoft and the partner community. Not wanting to have a dog in that fight (can we still say that in the post-Vick era?) I declined the interview and pointed the author to my numerous previous blog postings on the subject.

As it turned out, the article had a lot to do with licensing complexity in general, and in hindsight it would have been nice to do the interview and possibly raise my public profile with regard to this issue. Oh, well. I’m sure this won’t be the last journal article on licensing.
