Data Call Failure
Error Code : 37
Miscellaneous Erroneously Mobile IP Set Up Occurred.

I have a number of “issues” with this error message, which popped up on my screen a few days ago.

  1. There’s no time stamp on the error message, so I have no idea what I was doing at the time the error occurred.
  2. I am quite sure that the description of the error message is grammatically incorrect, but I’m not 100% sure what’s wrong. I think if it simply said “erroneous,” dropping the “-ly,” it would be better, but perhaps that changes the intended meaning of the message. And all that capitalization bugs me.
  3. I searched both Google and live.com for “miscellaneous erroneously mobile ip set up occurred” and ‘windows mobile “data call failure”‘ but I did not find a link from Microsoft explaining the error message. I did get a few hits, and they suggest that the error had to do with a loss of connectivity to my wireless broadband service. But there really ought to be a Microsoft web site with a list of all the Windows Mobile error codes you might encounter and what they mean.

Fortunately, I haven’t received this or any other error messages since then.
