The case of the missing /font

The case of the missing /font

After posting something that included some text in a smaller font, I noticed that all subsequent posts on that page were displayed in that same small font. But if I opened a “small font” post in its own window by clicking the post’s title, the font went back to normal.

Turns out that when a series of posts are rendered on a single browser page, you can’t expect each new post to start off with a new font tag in HTML. It just continues displaying in whatever font the previous post last used, unless the previous post took care to turn its font off at the end. Somehow, either through human or software error, one of the posts was missing the HTML code to turn the small font off.

For a better idea of what I’m talking about, see the WordPress FAQ.
