Diva to the rescue

Diva to the rescue

I think it’s a safe bet that every single blog that discusses Microsoft Small Business Server has at least one link or reference to Susan Bradley. I don’t agree with every single thing Susan says, but I must say she is a butt-saver nonpareil.

Tonight I was applying Exchange Service Pack 2 for one of my clients running SBS 2003. I’d installed this service pack on at least three other servers so I pretty much knew what to expect. But in the middle of this particular install, I got an error: Setup failed while installing sub-component Exchange ActiveSync with error code 0xC0070643 (please consult the installation logs for a detailed description).  You may cancel the installation or try the failed setup again.

So I went to Google and searched for exchange sp2 activesync 0xC0070643. The first hit I got was not a Microsoft site, but an entry in Susan’s blog. She had gotten the same error once, and took the time to document it for all the world to see. As it happened, my situation was not exactly the same as hers, but someone had commented on her blog entry and that comment led me to the solution.

Thanks, Susan … again!
