Five steps toward increased productivity

One in a series of posts on various things you can do with technology to make yourself more productive …

6 tips for increased productivity with Office 2007

As you may have gathered from my recent post about installation glitches, I’m finally on the Office 2007 bandwagon. I’d checked it out in beta a bit, but didn’t want to put it on my production machines until the final code was released. Now comes the fun part: learning all the new features.
As I find information [...]

Office 2007 installation glitch

I’ve been through a few Office upgrades, and I’m used to simply running the new installation program and having my old Office versions replaced automatically. That didn’t work when I installed the trial version of Office 2007. Most components of the suite installed just fine, but not Outlook 2007.
I ended up with two versions of Word, [...]

Changes to Action Pack licensing - undocumented, unwelcome, unwise

If you don’t know what the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription is, you probably won’t care about this blog post and you can stop reading now.

Best warning message I’ve seen in a while

This is from Mozy, an online backup service. You get this prompt after creating a password to encrypt the data that you want to back up.

I’m currently evaluating the professional version of Mozy. If I like what I see, I will start recommending and reselling it to clients.

What I did on my winter vacation

If your first choice for a vacation is relaxing on the beach with a drink in your hand, and your second choice is relaxing by the pool with a drink in your hand, then you might want to consider the Grand Oasis Cancun. Here’s my review of the place on TripAdvisor.

What I’m hearing about Vista

The word “Vista” is starting to enter the common vocabulary, much as “XP” did some years ago, and I’m getting questions about what it is and whether it’s needed. Fortunately, Microsoft got it right with their product naming strategies, so this time I don’t face the additional hurdle of asking whether the question is about [...]
