Those Palins are a fertile bunch

In Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, it was Michael Palin who noted that “every sperm is sacred.” Apparently the Palins of Alaska share the sentiment. This stuff gets weirder by the day.

The McCain-Palin campaign has addressed last weekend’s rumors that Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter Bristol is actually the mother of Trig Palin, who was introduced publicly as Sarah’s fifth child. The campaign is saying “Pregnant teenager? You want a pregnant teenager? We’ll show you a pregnant teenager: Bristol Palin.” That’s right — the same girl alleged to have given birth in April is currently said to be five months along. And that’s not a rumor. That’s confirmed.

Now, of course, there is going to be all kinds of speculation as to whether Bristol could possibly have given birth in April and be pregnant again now. The ABC story cited above said the McCain campaign would not comment on the Bristol-as-Trig’s-mother story, meaning that they didn’t deny it, either. But CNN is reporting that today’s announcement about Bristol’s current pregnancy was mean to “correct” the rumors about Trig.

I think the GOP needs a new catch phrase: Just say “oh, no!”
