More lies from lying Jay Severin, the liar

Note: please post any new comments to the new SeverinWatch blog: http://severinwatch.com/2008/10/16/more-lies-from-lying-jay-severin-the-liar/

Didn’t have the recorder set up for this one so I can’t provide the full transcript, but on Wednesday, October 15, between 3:30 and 4:30 pm, Jay Severin made a couple statements that are – to use one of his favorite terms – demonstrably false.

Lie #1: Barack Obama’s plan for higher taxes only for those making $250,000 or more would apply to any small business with more than $250,000 in gross receipts.

Truth #1: The $250,000 level refers to personal income. While it’s true that small business EARNINGS are treated as wages for sole proprietorships and S-corporations, the amount of gross receipts has nothing to do with income tax calculations. This is spelled out clearly on Barack Obama’s web site:

As a small business owner who claims small business income on your individual tax return (whether through a sole proprietorship, partnership, or S-corp) you pay individual income taxes only on your net income — or profit — and not on your firm’s gross revenue. Accordingly, when Obama says that he would roll back the Bush tax cuts for all couples earning more than $250,000 a year, these income figures include only net income that a small business owner takes home. Because net income is usually far lower than gross revenue, even if your revenue is above $250,000 you are still likely to get a tax cut under Obama’s tax plan.

For more details on Obama’s tax plan, check out this fact sheet.

Lie #2: Barack Obama has refused to release his birth certificate.

Truth #2: His birth certificate is also on his web site. And now it’s on my web site, too:

Barack Obama's Birth Certificate

So what’s your defense, Jay? That Barack Obama is putting false information on his web site and that no other major media outlet has called him on it? I don’t think so, Jay. Stop lying.

David:
This guy is a pathological liar and a really weak republican hack. This is most revealed not during
his talk with his callers, who mostly all agree with him but when he interviews some one on air. He is fawning
and comes off as someone who really does not know anything to any depth (he skims the GOP talking points before he goes
on air). Lets wait till the 5th and call him up to tell him how this old crotchety fool will become irrelevant
in the coming years.

Tell me, where are the callers on his program who call him out for what he is: a racist, xenophobic, homophobic
close-minded tool?

Another bit from Severin last week: the Boston City Council is actually a bunch of commies.

He has said this lie over and over. The day the daily kos published the certificate and the entire blogosphere was talking about it, he was going 100% with it trying to get as much mileage as he can until people find out. When one his B&B called to tell him about it, he said it was probably fake. He let the issue die for a couple weeks, then comes back with it everyone now and then. The idea is to plant it into some random listeners mind.

Duli: Unfortunately, a large number of the people who disagree with Jay and have the luck and patience to make it on the air come unprepared and fall into one of his traps. (“That’s not what I said,” “that’s not what racism means,” and so on.) And the people who are up to the challenge quickly get disconnected or talked over.

What I really don’t understand is why someone would spend the hours that it takes to get through and wait on hold only to say “Jay, I agree with you 100%.” What’s the fun in that?

SEverin is a fraud, a proven liar (Pulitzer Prize for radio journalism?) and a pig of a human. He knows he is more intelligent than his average listener and he manipulates his lemmings with words. It makes them feel smart also. This guy is truly dangerous. He said Friday that talk radio would be destroyed if Obama is elected. His sheep follow his voice and ditto all he says.

David! I totally agree with your comment. I fume everytime I listen to this guy, which is seldom; but I wondered, is there no one that can counter him. You’re right, even if one is truly prepared and informed, he will cut you off at the knees, by talking out the time and finally cutting you off, leaving with a nasty comment about your MaMa. Thanks to all of you on this blog; this information regarding Jimmy has certainly been informative, thanks for exposing him as the fraud he is.

Jay may have been technically wrong then but appears to be correct today. Of course no politician would ever stick to a lunatic promise like a $250,000 limit to taxing so … today Obama is “agnostic” to limiting taxes to those earning $250,000 or more.

The birth certificate has the appearance of a fake: no seal, no crease marks indicating that the two documents pro-offered are different documents, registered on same day issued (unusual if not a clear indicator, and the image, when viewed at the “image code” level shows a recording of alteration by photoshop in 2008.

Dino, I hesitated to respond at all, given that your comment was so late and lame, and not even posted to the right blog. (All Severin-related material has been moved to http://www.severinwatch.com.) However, I must briefly point out that (a) you still don’t understand the difference between small business gross income and personal income; and (b) the birther thing is a non-issue. You could probably come up with “evidence” suggesting that the sun orbits the earth, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth revisiting the question.
